Local Sunday Market
Port Douglas retains a relaxed, old-fashion charm- especially on weekends. On Sundays, bargain hunters can find hidden treasures, delicious tropical fruits and vegetables, affordable clothing and handmade crafts among the stalls of the Port's Sunday Markets. Look for the Markets every Sunday in Anzac Park at the Northern end of Macrossan Street.
Sugar Plantations
During the sugar cane crushing season (June to November), you can see the harvesters in action from the highway and smell the sweet molasses in the air.
Memory of old Port
Exploring on foot or by bicycle is an affordable way of sightseeing throughout the town. Follow the Award Winning Historical Walk designed by Douglas Shire Historical Society Inc, visit Court House Museum, flagstaff Hill Lookout, St. Mary's by the Sea and more.
